Five free virtual French tutoring sessions for students in Grades 1–12 across New Brunswick’s Anglophone school system.
Parents for Bilingual Education New Brunswick (PBENB), in collaboration with the New Brunswick Centre of Excellence for Language Learning, is proud to offer the 2025–2026 Virtual French Tutoring Program in partnership with Apprendre Franco-Fun.
This initiative provides five free online tutoring sessions for students in Grades 1–12 enrolled in New Brunswick’s Anglophone school system, including students in French Immersion, the PIF program, and the English pathway. The program is designed to support students who would benefit from extra help in French by building confidence, strengthening language skills, and encouraging success in a supportive virtual setting.
To ensure equitable access across the province, available spaces are distributed among school districts. A portion of tutoring spots is reserved specifically for students in Grades 6–8.
Once registered, families receive an email to schedule an initial assessment. Students then participate in five individual 25-minute virtual tutoring sessions tailored to their needs. Families who wish to continue beyond the free sessions may access additional tutoring at a discounted rate through PBENB.
Registration for the free tutoring sessions is currently closed. Families interested in paid tutoring options or future program offerings are encouraged to contact info@pbenb.com for more information.
This program offers students the extra support they need to grow their confidence and thrive in French.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this program follow a curriculum?
There is no pre-set tutoring curriculum. Tutors assess each student’s current level of French and tailor sessions to meet their individual needs.
Will my child have the same tutoring time and instructor each week?
Not necessarily. Tutoring sessions are scheduled with Apprendre Franco-Fun based on your availability. Having the same tutor each week depends on tutor scheduling and availability.
How many tutoring sessions will my child receive?
Each free tutoring placement includes an initial assessment of your child’s French level followed by five individual 25-minute tutoring sessions.
Can I enrol my child more than once per year?
Families are welcome to reapply when the program is offered again later in the year. Priority will be given to students who have not yet received free tutoring before remaining spaces are offered to returning participants.
Who are the tutors?
